Latin American Poker Tour Season 4
In the middle of February, PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) will kick off in style in Sao Paulo, a city that not only is the largest in Brazil, it’s the largest city in the southern hemisphere, and with almost twenty million people in its greater metro area, one of the most densely populated areas on the planet as well.
The LAPT Sao Paulo will run February 16th thru the 20th, and aside from the Main Event, there will be turbo, rebuy, NLH Bounty tourneys, events for the ladies, and Super Satellites to the Main Event, in a glittering cosmopolitan city of skyscrapers, plentiful nightlife, home of the killer caipirinha, Brazil’s potent national cocktail made with cachaça sugar and lime.
Already a hundred players have qualified for the Sao Paulo Main Event, and PokerStars is continuously running satellites daily as well as Freeroll qualifiers that will send lucky players to South America for free. The LAPT prize packages include a Main Event buy-in, hotel and cash for expenses.
What’s new this year is the introduction of the LAPT Latin American Poker Tour Awards. All throughout the season, the LAPT will track various statistics to gauge the top players on the tour. Following the last stop, six distinct LAPT awards will be given based on main events and side events worth over $500 as well as player votes.
Players will earn a set number of points based on what place they finished in the qualifying events.
This is the breakdown of awards categories:
Player of the Year: The player who wins the most points over all qualifying events will be crowned LAPT Player of the Year. PRIZE: LAPT Passport for next season (all LAPT main event buy-ins paid)
Short-Handed Player of the Year: This award will go to the player who earns the most points in six-max events during Season 4. PRIZE: LAPT 6-Max Passport for next season (all LAPT 6-Max events paid).
Best Online Qualifier of the Year: A ranking system thatbines online qualifying with live results will be used to determine the LAPT’s best online qualifier of the year. PRIZE: $215 qualifier tickets to be used online on PokerStars (one for each LAPT Main Event).
Best Latin American Country: The Latin American country that does the best over the course of season 4 will have all its LAPT players invited to play a $10,000 freeroll at the first event of Season 5.
Best Venue: LAPT players will be invited to vote for their favorite venue during Season 4. PRIZE: The winning venue will be given an inscribed trophy as well being featured on the LAPT website during the following season.
Best Achievement of the Year: LAPT players will have a chance to vote at the end of the year on a list of the best 25 achievements from the fourth season. The award will go to the person or people who receive the most player votes. PRIZE: Main Event buyin and hotel to the opening event of LAPT Season 5.
