888.com challenge for Team Lewis vs Team Taylor – Who will win?
To celebrate 888’s sponsorship of the Premier League Darts, an all-new, team challenge has been taking place between the eight players. The two teams captained by Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis are going head to head to avoid ahumiliating forfeit – as voted for by the sport’s die-hard fans at 888.
Captaining Team Blue is 15-time World Champion Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor. Having hit two nine-darters in last year’s Premier League final, Taylor couldn’t be more at ease than at the oche.
However, being taken off dry land is what terrifies Taylor the most: “I would hate to swim with sharks or jump out of an aeroplane. Spending an evening in the same room as Adrian Lewis or running a marathon would also be another nightmare for me. The 888 Premier Leaguefans can be quite gruesome, so I hope we can win!”
Team Blueprising of Taylor, Terry Jenkins, Raymond van Barneveld and Gary Anderson maintained their lead after week six over Team Green made up of Adrian Lewis, James Wade, Simon Whitlock and Mark Webster. Team Blue is currently 30-18 up against their Team Green rivals and is 1/7 with 888sport to triumph at the end of the 2011 tournament, while Team Green is 4/1.
Current World Champion Lewis is Team Green’s skipper and has admitted to what he’d hate to have to do if his team lose: “I hate snakes. So anything to do with them is what I most fear. If the fans make us jump off anything though, they better make sure they have a strong bungee rope!”
‘The Power’ has shrugged off his opening week defeat to his protégé Lewis and romped to five straight victories since, taking him to the top of the 888 Premier League table ahead of the week seven action in Brighton tomorrow evening: ‘This is without a shadow of doubt the best Premier League ever. You don’t win the World Championship by being rubbish, but I hope Adrian’s team get beat and have to do the forfeit at the end of thepetition!”
